Home Care Matters Staff Spotlight: we would like to introduce & welcome some of our ‘old’ & new Staff additions.
First, let’s meet, Sykwana (Sky) Lavant. Technically, Sky is not new to our company; she’s been a beloved member of our team as one of our lead Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA’s) both with clients & the HCM staff for over a year. Sky is now taking over the scheduling department & all that it entails! She has been learning all the system & people nuances that go into this position & is learning new things every day (or hour as the case may be). Sky is a hard worker, dependable & professional, who was looking for a new challenge within the company. Anyone who has ever done scheduling can attest that she’s found that challenge. We are so proud & happy to have her.

Please join us also in welcoming Mary Perazzola, RN to our staff. Mary comes to Home Care Matters with a broad based & credentialed nursing career. Her experiences include surgical units, hospitals, medical offices, school systems, home health & much more. Mary will be out meeting clients & caregivers over the next few weeks & getting acquainted with all the “P’s”, people, policies, procedures & paperwork! Please also meet & welcome, Laurie Sages, RN, MA. Laurie has been with Home Care Matters since last year & has become a valued & integral part of our operations & as well a trusted a valued HCM family member. Laurie’s nursing career is vast & various; she has experience in cardiac units, hospitals, labs, school systems, educational director, insurance providers, & much more. Laurie has been a welcomed professional in our organization to staff, families, caregivers & colleagues. She is a professional, intuitive & compassionate nurse & just an all around nice & gracious person. And she’s even known to have a wicked sense of humor! We are honored to have Laurie on our team & don’t know what we would do without her!
Laurie & Mary share nursing responsibilities & work seamlessly & tirelessly together to make sure our clients, families, caregivers, professional partners, doctors, insurance partners, etc. all receive the highest level of care, service & professionalism in the industry. They are simply the best.

Valerie has the unique experience with home care as she has experienced it from both ends of the spectrum, as a caregiver and as needing care herself as a cancer survivor. Valerie says, “Taking care of someone you love is a physically, mentally and demanding labor of love.Taking care of my mom was the hardest thing I have ever done. It has given me an insight and perspective not many people understand unless you are doing it or have done it.I loved taking care of my mom.I love helping others take care of their love ones too.And now that I’ve been sick, it’s given me a whole new level of empathy and understanding for those who are sick and need help.”
Valerie’s schedule varies daily, but she loves visiting with our clients, families, caregivers, our network partners and being in the office.Says Valerie, “Every day is different, but I wake up excited about what we do, inspired by our team, clients and caregivers.I strive to be a resource to the community.I love my team and I love what we do every day. I like to think my mom would be proud.”
